Origin Story
A Little More Backstory

All my life, I was grooming myself to be a psychologist. People even called me the “junior psychologist” in middle and high school. Then I suddenly pivoted during the last semester of senior year and realized I was actually a really good writer. On a whim, I decided not to go to college for psychology and instead spent the time working, traveling, and just exploring life.

Somewhere down the line, I put myself through college (community, don't get excited) and got a degree in Computer Information Systems, which I never use. Despite all of the ups, downs, and anxiety attacks I’ve experienced in life, that was the best decision I ever made. #NoStudentLoanDebt

Gardening

I actually eat fresh food out of my garden. Food I grew! I never thought this habit would change my life, but it did. It has spiritually enlightened me and helped me understand the Creator - and divine service - in ways I could never imagine. It’s relaxing. It’s addictive. It’s dope.

Reading

I enjoy a wide span of genres and authors, from fantasy to mystery to romance to non-fiction. I’m a book nerd and just want to see great writing. I like well-written, sophisticated writing - words that are used in such a way that they seem to wrap around me and pull me right into the world you’ve created. It’s not an easy thing to do and not every writer can pull that off.

Gaming

I haven’t officially gamed since my son was born over six years ago (long, traumatic story I won’t go into now), but I still consider myself a gamer for LIFE. I was one of those weirdos who actually started from an Atari and worked up through every gaming console to the PS3. Yeah, I know, I’m way behind now console-wise, but I’ve got bills to pay. I can’t put out $500+ every time Sony and Microsoft wanna get into a pissing war with each other. LOL

TV

Between being a mom of two, writing, running a company, gardening, reading, and maintaining a (somewhat sane) household, I don’t get to watch TV often. I try to allow myself one day a week to just binge the heck out of one show. Usually, I just have YouTube or something playing in the background while I write or research.

Photography

To all of you truly talented photographers out there, I say this: utmost props and credit for what you do. I'm not good at taking pictures, but I love to do it. While some can make an image come to life using photography, I canNOT. I'm a writer, not a photographer. LOL

Exercising

In my head, I’m a super strong martial arts master. In reality, I’m a skinny, slightly muscular woman who works out way too sporadically. I get on the treadmill and exercise bike when I feel like it, and I lift weights only when I remember to. I practice kiddie martial arts with my Dojo Go teacher on YouTube just enough to delude myself into thinking I’m Jackie Chan or Jet Li, then I sit my ass back down on the couch. I’ll get better at it.

The reading of all good books is like conversation with the finest (people) of the past centuries.
